We have received several letters of thanks from residents remarking on the stellar job done by our DPW, and the members of the Township Committee would like to add their names to the list of those thankful for their hard work.
At our meeting last month we honored Black History Month. Committeewoman Cathy Wilson penned a wonderful tribute to the occasion, which I urge everyone to read.
At each of our monthly meetings we honor people from our community for the good work they do either as volunteers or in other ways that they help the community. In combination with Black History Month we honored those that have been instrumental in creating and perpetuating the Martin Luther King Observance Committee, which hosts the annual MLK Memorial Breakfast and provides scholarships. Established in 1970, this organization recently held their 51st annual MLK celebration. At our February meeting we honored the members of this organization that reside in Morris Township: Dr. Felicia Jamison, Dr. David Hollowell, Dr. Dorothy Hollowell, Henry Lee, and Elie Sims.
You can find a recap of the entire February meeting below.
The Township Committee will hold its next Regular Meeting this Wednesday, March 17 at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom Meetings as has been the practice since the start of the pandemic. The agenda can be found here.

As you can see from the agenda, we will cover the following topics (among other items) at our meeting:
  • A Proclamation recognizing Developmental Disabilities Month
  • A continuation of our tradition recognizing a member of the public for their accomplishments, contributions, or volunteer work --tune in to see who it is this month!
  • Opportunity for public commentary and questioning on any matter relating to Morris Township.
  • Introduction of the 2021 municipal budget (this is just an introduction and a full public hearing will take place at our April 21st meeting)
  •  Awarding of bids for upcoming projects
  • Commentary by Township Committee members

Of note, ordinance 01-21 relating to the Redevelopment Plan for 340 Mount Kemble Avenue will not be heard at this meeting but rather will take place at a Special Meeting dedicated to hearing this proposal (date to be announced on Wednesday).

While more and more people are getting vaccinated each day, we unfortunately will still have to deal with coronavirus precautions for several more months. I very much encourage all of our residents to make the personal choice to get the COVID-19 vaccination. Until enough people are vaccinated we all need to remain vigilant with wearing our masks and washing our hands frequently – as tired as we all are of doing that. We are nearing the finish line, and now is not the time to let your guard down.

As always, if you have a question or comment to share with me please send me an email to jgrayzel@morristwp.com . I would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Jeff Grayzel
Mayor, Morris Township
