As a reminder ONLY 23% of your tax dollar goes towards paying your Morris Township municipal tax. The Morris School District is the biggest portion of your tax dollar with a 60% share. Our county government gets 15% and our library gets 2% of every tax dollar.
At each of our Township Community we honor a member of the public (or a group) for their accomplishments, contributions, or volunteer work. This past month we honored the Hillside Hose Company No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary for their remarkable record of service. As stated in the commendation to the Ladies Auxiliary presented at our meeting:

“In June 1919, the auxiliary was formed with twenty-five founding members, and disbanded in January 1939. On March 27, 1946, eighteen women met at the Hillside Firehouse on Western Ave. to form the current auxiliary of the Hillside Hose Co. No. 1. The auxiliary has been in fine running order ever since, giving aid to Hillside Hose Fire Company whenever necessary, raising funds for improvement of the firehouse, aiding in community affairs such as holiday parades and parties, fundraising events such as the annual Christmas Tree sales and community events such as Hillside’s Annual Oktoberfest and Hayward Park Cleanup. In addition, the Auxiliary has continuously supported the NJ Firemen’s Home, providing support as needed especially during the pandemic. The current membership of the Ladies Auxiliary has grown to over 60 members and has become part of the heart of our Township, representing a community who cares for one another. On behalf of the residents of Morris Township, we extend our appreciation for their continuous efforts. “
