At each of our Township Committee meetings we honor a member of the public or a group for their accomplishments, contributions, or volunteer work. This past month we honored the Moms Demand Action organization for their work advocating against gun violence. June 4 was recognized nationally as Gun Violence Awareness Day, and a Township resident who is a member of “The Moms” presented information to the community about the work that they do.
This month we will not hold our monthly honors at the June 16 meeting. Rather we will hold a ceremony on Saturday, June 19 at 10am to honor longtime resident Brian McNally, a Captain in the United States Marines and Trooper with the NJ State Police who died in a motor vehicle accident. The municipality is renaming a field at Freelan Green Park (located on Weathervane Drive & known as Harlan Green Park ) in his honor. You can find the event details here.
The Township Committee will hold its next Regular Meeting this Wednesday, June 16 at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom Meetings and the agenda can be found here.

As you can see from the agenda, we will cover the following topics (among other items) at our meeting:
  • A Proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month
  • A presentation by the Regional External Affairs Manager from our power company JCP&L regarding storm preparedness
  • Opportunity for public commentary and questioning on any matter relating to Morris Township
  • Commentary by Township Committee members
The Township Committee will also hold a Special Meeting tonight, Monday June 14 starting at 6:00pm that will be dedicated entirely to the Redevelopment Proposal at 340 Mount Kemble Avenue. Information on the 340 Mount Kemble Redevelopment Project can be found here. The agenda containing the Zoom login information can be found here.
Last week the Township held a virtual Public Information Session on the status of cannabis legislation. Residents interested in learning more about New Jersey's new cannabis laws can watch the recording of this information session hosted by the Legislative Standing Committee of the Township Committee. You can view and find out more information here.
Our seasonal yardwaste service continues with pick up in zone 1 last Saturday, June 12 and zone 2 this Saturday, June 19 . Find your zone here and remaining dates here.
