Pick-Up available beginning Monday, May 18, weekdays only, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
The Gulfport Public Library is committed to the health and wellbeing of the citizens we serve. We are working to restore library service to our customers in a gradual and safe manner. Beginning Monday, May 18, the Gulfport Public Library will offer parking lot pick-up services for books, dvds, and other items. To place your order, call (727) 893- 1074 or email email@example.com. Please provide your library card number, name, and title and format (DVD, book, large print, etc.) of the item when you make your request. THE TAMPA BAY NETWORK TO END HUNGER EXPANDS PROGRAMMING TO SERVE THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE GULFPORT COMMUNITY
The Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger and the City of Gulfport, Florida partner to expand programming.
The Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger (TBNEH), a tri-county leader in hunger relief, research and program development, is proud to announce the City of Gulfport as a new partner with weekly meal packing events at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport.
“We are grateful MOW4Kids is serving our community, especially with summer approaching, this ensures our children have the same access to good and healthy food as we enter what may be a long and uncertain summer,” said Samuel Henderson, Mayor of City of Gulfport. “We are happy to support the Network’s mission to help children and families in Gulfport. This program also gives our employees the opportunity to give back by helping our community.”
Volunteers will assemble shelf stable foods and produce at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater on Saturdays for delivery on Mondays.
The Network’s MOW4Kids program launched this past March, in partnership with Share Our Strength’s No Kids Hungry, Pinellas County Schools Food and Nutrition and Transportation Departments, Daystar Life Center, St. Petersburg Free Clinic and Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County. MOW4Kids, the first program of its kind, was developed in response to COVID-19 school closures, to serve children, 18 years or younger, with meals delivered to their home by volunteers.

CITY OF GULFPORT PUBLIC WORKS SEWER SYSTEM SMOKE TESTING
In an effort to improve the sanitary sewer system and the related environment, the City of Gulfport Public Works Department announces that sewer system smoke testing will be conducted on Monday, May 18, 2020 for approximately two weeks. The purpose of this cost effective maintenance program is to find cracks, breaks, and other issues with sewer lines in the City’s system that need to be repaired and improved. The smoke testing is part of our continuing effort to provide a safe, economical, efficient and environmentally sound sewer system. The smoke used for this test is manufactured for this purpose and leaves no residuals or stains and has no effect on plants and animals. Door hangers will be placed on every home and business prior to any work being conducted. CITY OF GULFPORT CASINO DOCK TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION
City of Gulfport, Florida Marina Director, Denis Frain has announced the Gulfport Casino Dock in Boca Ceiga Bay will be temporarily closed for scheduled construction beginning Thursday, May 14 at 9 a.m. The closure is necessary while repairs of support pilings are completed. The Casino dock is anticipated to reopen Friday, May 15.
During the Casino dock closures, boaters are invited to consider using the Gulfport Municipal Marina at 4630 29th Avenue South, Gulfport, Florida 33711.

STATE OF FLORIDA OPENS BARBERSHOPS AND COSMETOLOGY SALONS
Governor DeSantis’ Resolution 20-120 allows barbershops, cosmetology salons, and specialty cosmetology salons to reopen today (May 11), with the following restrictions and recommendations to maintain public safety:
- Scheduling by appointment only
- No group appointments
- Allowing 15 minutes between customers to allow for proper disinfecting practices
- All employees wear masks while providing personal services
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect prior to reopening. Make sure to disinfect all surfaces, tools and linens, even if they were cleaned before you originally closed. This type of cleaning should continue between each day of operation.
- Consider providing unworn masks to clients for use during their appointment.
- Remove all unnecessary, frequently touched items like magazines, newspapers, service menus and any other unnecessary paper products and décor from customer service areas.
