WKRC-TV, Local 12 will be presenting a documentary about Santa Maria's co-founder, Sister Blandina Segale, who is being considered for Sainthood in the Catholic Church. The documentary will air tomorrow, December 9, 2022 at 7 p.m. on channel 12. While Santa Maria became an independent nonprofit organization in 1972, we still carry on S. Blandina’s mission today!
Confronting outlaws and injustice, educating children, and caring for the sick are all part of the life story of a local Sister of Charity who is now being considered for sainthood. WKRC, Local 12 will air an hour-long documentary on the life and legacy of Sister Blandina Segale. A team from the station researched her life by tracking her journey from Cincinnati to the Santa Fe Trail and back to Cincinnati. From verified encounters with Billy the Kid to building schools and hospitals in the wild west, Sister Blandina’s story is legendary. The documentary, “Sister Blandina Segale: A Cincinnati Saint” will be hosted by Local 12 news anchor, Bob Herzog and will air on December 9th from 7-8 p.m.
“Taking on a project of this magnitude requires quite a bit of planning and preparation,” says Local 12’s SVP and General Manager, Jon Lawhead. “It’s really an amazing story of service above self which really struck a chord with us. To be able to create this amazing program based on her experiences, is very gratifying.”
With portions of the documentary filmed on location, in New Mexico, Colorado and Cincinnati, viewers will be able to see how her actions impacted the lives of people out west, as well as here in the Tri-State. Dozens of miracles are already attributed to her intercession. Even the Vatican has sent representatives to Cincinnati as part of its investigation. One documented instance involves a woman from Delhi, Ohio who, after being given a death sentence from doctors, now credits her continued good health to Sister Blandina.
