Dear Friends -
There are so many incredible events happening this weekend! Today kicks off the 15th annual O+ Festival, Field + Supply fall market will run though the weekend, and the Italian Festival will be held downtown on Sunday.
As the leaves begin to fall, a reminder that the statewide burn ban remains in effect until at least October 15. More details here.
The Ulster County Health Department has declared the local waterways safe from the recent harmful algal blooms. No swimming signs have been removed at Kingston Point Beach and Rotary Park - for dogs only. Lifeguards are not on duty this time of year for humans.
City offices will be closed on Monday, October 13 in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. Trash/recycling will be delayed one day next week.

Mayor Noble will present his 2026 Proposed Budget on Friday, October 17 at 11:00am in Council Chambers at City Hall.
All are welcome to join his presentation in person, and the budget address will also be streamed on the City of Kingston YouTube channel.

A new biennial event, Kingston Colonial Days, will be held October 17-19, 2025. Events will include demonstrations and exhibitions, a film screening, performances, panel discussions, a 5k run from Uptown Kingston to historic Hurley, and more.
Kingston Colonial Days event will present a wide range of topics and will explore diverse voices during the time from first contact with Indigenous peoples to Kingston as the first state capital, the Revolutionary War, and other historic events. The Burning of Kingston event will return in 2026 and 2027 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War. Kingston Colonial Days will be held again in 2028 and will be biennial on the even years.

The City of Kingston is accepting submissions of artwork for inclusion in an exhibition entitled, "250 Years of American Voices, Stories, and Histories," which will be on display at City Hall from December 6, 2025, through September 25, 2026.
In the ground floor gallery space, City Hall will host a multidisciplinary community visual arts exhibition, "250 Years of American Voices, Stories, and Histories," bringing the country’s cultural history to life through the arts.
Local artists are invited to submit artworks in response to the theme. Submissions are due by October 24, 2025. Guidelines and submission requirements can be found at https://www.kingston-ny.gov/exhibitions

| | Roadwork/Infrastructure & Road Closures Update | | |
Paving– the next paving project will be Stephan Street, which will be milled and paved the week of October 20.
Central Hudson– gas projects are currently wrapped up in Kingston. Central Hudson will have another round of paving in the Cedar Street neighborhood, which is expected to start the week of October 20.
Albany Avenue ADA sidewalks– State DOT is removing and replacing sidewalks in various locations throughout Kingston, including along Albany Avenue, Ulster Avenue, and Route 32. The lane closures along Albany Avenue are causing delays. Seek alternate routes.
Loughran Park pickleball/tennis court improvement– three new trees, 52 shrubs and 59 grasses have been planted for this project at Loughran Park. The plantings are being installed along the bioretention area to treat and infiltrate stormwater runoff from both courts. Weather permitting, the acrylic coating system will be applied to the asphalt surfaces next week.

The Kingston 311 app, available for Android & iPhones, is a fast and simple way to connect to City officials in non-emergency situations. Photos can be attached to illustrate service orders.
This system is a valuable resource to submit municipal service requests. Examples include:
- Streetlight replacement
- City signage, including overgrowth blocking traffic signs
- Snow removal, reporting parking violations, and other snow issues
- Parks & playground repairs
- Report graffiti or vandalism
