Dear Friends -
I hope everyone is staying cool in this extreme heat. The Kingston Cooling Center is open from 9:00am to 7:00pm daily at 2nda Iglesia La Mision Church, 80 Elmendorf St.
Anyone in need of shelter from the heat is welcome at the Cooling Center. For general heat-related assistance, call or text the Family of Woodstock hotline at 845-679-2485.
A reminder that both Kingston Point Beach and Andretta Pool will be closed on Saturday for the holiday, as well as Dietz Stadium. Dietz will be open limited hours on Friday, July 3 from 7:00am to 5:00pm.
City offices will be closed on Friday, July 3. There will be yard waste pick-up on Friday, July 3. The transfer station will be open on July 3, and closed on July 4.

O’Connor & Partners, along with The Cornell, Brickmen Kitchen + Bar, and Mariner’s Harbor, will sponsor Fourth of July events, including a concert and a fireworks display on the Kingston Waterfront.
Starting at 6:30pm, the Breakout Kings band will play on the City stage in TR Gallo Park, sponsored by Mariner’s Harbor.
The fireworks, courtesy of O’Connor & Partners and The Cornell will be set off from a barge in the Rondout Creek just after dark. Events are free and open to the public.
UCAT will run a free shuttle service, making regular pick-ups from the Kingston Plaza, the Cornell Street parking lot, and along Broadway at the Governor Clinton, the Andy Murphy Center, City Hall/Kingston High School, and Yosman Towers, dropping off at Garraghan Drive. Buses will start at 5:00pm and the last bus will depart the Rondout at 11:30pm.
The concert at Hutton Brickyards will not affect parking for the City's Fourth festivities. The concert will have its own dedicated off-site parking.

The City of Kingston with Old Dutch Church, Harambee, and the Pine Street African Burial Ground, will host 250 Years of America’s Voices: Black Fourth of July Commemoration on July 7, 2026, at Old Dutch Church at 7:00pm.
The Black Fourth of July Commemoration will be a community gathering celebrating Black heritage, independence, and resilience through live music, historical education, and poetry.
The event will feature a musical performance by Juma Sultan’s Aboriginal Society, and readings from Old Dutch Church’s Pastor Liz Estes, Pine Street African Burial Ground Steward Tyrone Wilson, Former Poet Laureate Kate Hymes, Poets Antonya Barnes and LotuZ.
Black Fourth of July is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature with thanks to the Radio Kingston Community Tech Team.

| Childrens Day Parade Next Friday! | |
The 56th Annual Children’s Day Parade will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026. The theme this year is Marvel Movies & Comics.
The parade will step off Pine Grove Avenue onto Broadway at 6:00pm. The parade will proceed up Broadway and onto Albany Avenue, make a right turn onto Clinton Avenue and then another right turn onto Westbrook Lane. Floats and units will then continue down Westbrook Lane, pass the Herzog’s lumberyard, and will take the next left towards the back of Herzog’s store.

Movies in the Park Tomorrow! | Kingston Organics Phase 2 Update | |
Kingston Organics curbside collection buckets have arrived. Our electric garbage trucks are expected to arrive next week and then after a few weeks of outfitting, we will be launching Kingston Organics Phase 2!
A public meeting and bucket distribution will be announced mid-July. We hope to start curbside collection by the beginning of August.

Residents of the City of Kingston who currently receive Kingston DPW trash collection can sign up to receive a free city-issued 5-gallon container (pictured) dedicated to collecting food scraps for weekly curbside collection.

To date, 14,682 school zone speed camera violations have been issued.
Beginning July 6, the Kingston City School District summer school schedule will be in effect, with school zone speed cameras operating at two schools:
JFK Elementary
Delaware Avenue from Corporate Drive to Murray Street
Monday to Thursday from July 6- July 30
8:00am –1:30pm
Kingston High School
Broadway from O’Reilly Street to Andrew Street & W. O’Reilly Broadway to High School Drive
Monday to Friday from July 6- August 19
7:00am – 1:30pm
Violations will be issued during the above summer school hours.
All other times, the City’s 25mph speed limit will be strictly enforced by KPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.
The City of Kingston would like to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation in slowing down in our designated school zones. Your compliance helps to keep children safe.
| Mayor Noble's Ward 5 Listening Tour Meeting | |
Mayor Noble, along with Council members from each ward, continues to host Listening Tour meetings throughout the wards to hear residents' thoughts and concerns.
The Ward 5 meeting will be held on Monday, July 20 at 5:30pm at Good Work Institute at 65 St. James Street.
The Ward 6 meeting will be held on Monday, July 17 at 5:30pm at Landmark Place at 300 Flatbush Ave.

| Paving + Roadwork & Infrastructure Update | |
Paving: the next round of paving will include the following:
Broadway from Cedar Street to Dederick Street will be milled starting on Monday, July 20 and will be paved by Thursday, July 23.
Marys Avenue from West Chester Street to Pine Grove Avenue will be milled starting Friday, July 24 and will be paved by Wednesday, July 29.
Schwenk Drive between Washington Avenue to Fair Street Ext. will be milled starting Tuesday, July 28 and will be paved by Friday, July 31.
Future rounds of paving will be announced in the coming weeks. Paving season is expected to continue through October 2026.
Foxhall Avenue sewer project: work continues on Foxhall Avenue between Hasbrouck and Wynkoop for water service connections. No Parking will be in effect next week in this area from 6:00am to 6:00pm daily.
Central Hudson: main installation will continue the week of July 6 on Elmendorf Street, Bruyn Avenue, and Downs Street with lane changes and/or closures. Service replacements will continue the week of July 6 on Ten Broeck Avenue between Albany Avenue and Downs Street with road closures and detours.
