Mayor's Message:

Dear Friends -

Just as the colder temperatures are arriving, we are thrilled to wrap up several major construction projects, including the Franklin Street Complete Streets Project, the Midtown Parking Lots Green Infrastructure Project and the Wilbur Avenue Paving Project. Additionally, we paved over 20 sections of road across the City of Kingston this season.

Our DPW team will now be focusing on sewer repair work and preparation for snow. If you need a refresher on Snow Emergency procedure, visit kingston-ny.gov/snowemergency.

Franklin Street Complete Streets Project Complete

The Franklin Street Complete Streets Project is now complete! The project spans the length of Franklin Street - from Wall Street to Broadway - and includes new sidewalks, ADA-accessible ramps, bicycle infrastructure, and crosswalks along the entire length of Franklin, as well as new street trees. Mayor Noble and City of Kingston officials and staff held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to mark substantial completion of the project!

Final road striping is expected for Monday, December 5.

The Franklin Street Complete Streets Project was supported with $750,000 in funding from the New York Department of Environmental Conservation's  Climate Smart Communities Grant Program.

New Christmas Tree in Midtown

The City of Kingston has erected a Christmas tree at the corner of Henry Street and Broadway in the new parklet.

A big thanks to the Department of Public Works for their help in bringing Christmas cheer to this corner in Midtown Kingston!

Kingston Snowflake Festival Tonight!

The annual Snowflake Festival returns tonight, Friday, December 2 from 6-8pm in Uptown Kingston. This is a free community event that promises to dazzle guests of all ages with an array of holiday-themed performances, exhibitions, entertainment, and open stores offering treats and warm beverages to visitors.

One of the evening’s featured highlights is the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus on an antique fire truck and their lighting of Kingston’s holiday tree at the intersection of Wall and North Front Streets. Santa will then settle-in on the Senate House grounds to meet with children of all ages.

Ole Savannah Christmas Spectacular on Saturday

The Ole Savannah Christmas Spectacular event on Saturday, December 3rd at 6pm is fun for the entire family with festive performances and plenty of holiday cheer.

The celebration includes:

· Tree lighting ceremony

· Fun and festive laser light show

· Performances by champion figure skaters & 2022 Olympians

· Stunning designer figure skating costumes

· Award-winning choreography by figure skating champion Rosanna Tovi

· World-class aerialist acts

· Christmas tunes performed by Jenna Esposito

Electric/Gas Bill Debt Elimination Program

Home heating costs are expected to spike even further this winter, but there is help available if you are low-income and behind on your bills. 

Join the online workshop to learn more about your utility’s low-income bill discount program and New York State’s Electric and Gas Debt Relief Program on Friday, December 9 from 12-1pm. Register at bit.ly/debt2022rsvp. Have your utility bill handy, a copy of your benefits award letter, your Medicaid card if you have one and a form of ID.

Mayor Noble's Tuesday Radio Show

Roadwork Update for Weeks of December 5

With colder temps, paving season is officially over. The Department of Public Works will be focusing on sewer repair and preparation for snow. 

Central Hudson will be working on Lucas Ave at various intersections between Washington Ave and Golf Terr. Main installation is complete, Central Hudson will be finishing up with the tie-ins and the intersections and then moving onto the service replacements for all the homes. 

Midtown Lots Parking Lots Improvements Project: striping on two of the parking lots is finished, with the Cornell lot expected to be completed on Friday afternoon. Landscaping and tree planting at the lots will complete the project next week.
