Dear Friends,
This week the City of Kingston was awarded close to $7,000,000 in grant funding toward much-needed work on infrastructure and vital improvements across our City.
Each of the projects these grants support will have a direct impact on the growth, stability and well-being of our residents and for our City as a whole. We are so grateful to
receive
these generous grants!
I hope to see you at the family-friendly New Year's Eve event or the Swearing-In ceremony and State of the City address on January 1st. In the meantime, happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas to those who celebrate! Wishing you a very merry holiday season.

Major Grant Awards This Week!
The City took home some major funding awards this week. On Tuesday, the City won three grants from NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) earmarked for water infrastructure improvements totaling $2,203,891. The grants will aid in the Hasbrouck CSO Sewer Separation Project ($717,450), the Henry Street Sewer Restoration Project ($586,441) and the Kingston Water Department's water transmission project ($900,000).
Yesterday at the
New York State Consolidated Funding awards ceremony in Albany, Kingston took home
a total of $4,761,200. The grants will help to partially or fully fund four major city-wide projects:
Kingston/Ulster County Transit System Integration ($400,000)
The City of Kingston Citibus has
fully integrated
with theUlster County Area Transit system. As a result of this integration agreement, the City is scheduled to pay the County $225,000 per year for five years. This grant will partially offset costs of this integration effort to reduce the costs to city taxpayers.
Another $1,611,200 for the
Hasbrouck CSO Sewer Separation Project, which
is estimated to remove 54 million gallons of stormwater annually from the Hasbrouck CSO sewer system and will reduce overflows to the Rondout Creek, improve Rondout Creek water quality, and reduce water treatment costs.
Dietz Stadium Green Infrastructure Site Improvements ($2,500,000)
will enable the City to rehabilitate and re-pave the parking lot around Dietz Stadium using green practices, which can include bioretention features such as rain gardens, bioswales, or recharge gardens, permeable pavement, and stormwater street trees. The proposed site plan concept also included efficient bus and traffic circulation plans, electric car charging stations, bicycle parking, and bike fix-it stations to encourage sustainable transportation to and from the athletic complex. This grant will complement the City's capital improvements at Dietz Stadium under the previously awarded Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI).
Kingston Point Rail Trail Phase 2 ($250,000)
construction of Phase 2 includes paving a 10-12 foot wide ADA-accessible path for pedestrians and bicyclists that will traverse over an old bridge, pass behind the Trolley Museum and end at a small trailhead on East Strand St. The project entails regrading for ADA access, installation of retaining walls and adjustment of tracks to accommodate the trail and Trolley Museum trains in the same vicinity, and erection of fences.

Carol Visit from the Kingston High School Choir
One of our favorite days of the year is the visit from the Kingston High School Choir singing carols at City Hall. This year was no exception, the students filled the building with good cheer. Thank you KHS choir for this wonderful annual tradition!

Kingston Kids Countdown New Years Eve Party
The City of Kingston will be hosting a family-oriented New Year's Eve celebration on Tuesday, December 31 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Andy Murphy Center.
In addition to a special Kids Countdown as the clock strikes noon, the family-friendly event will include
games, activities and
a dance party. Attendees will also enjoy a free lunch.

Mayor Steve Noble and the members of the Common Council invite you to the 2020 Swearing-In Ceremony and State of the City Address on January 1.

Relaxed Parking Enforcement for Holidays
Relaxed ticketing enforcement on expired meters is in effect now through January 1.
In the spirit of the season, we will be giving drivers a little extra time on parking meters across the City. Over the holidays, we hope that residents and visitors alike will enjoy all the stores and restaurants Kingston has to offer without rushing to feed the meter. Enjoy your time with family and friends!

Santa Paws Donations at City Hall
Our staff at City Hall got in the giving spirit and collected several boxes of toys, blankets, food and treats donations for the local SPCA through their Santa Paws program. Our furry friends deserve a happy holiday, too!
