A Message From Mayor Steve Noble:

Dear Friends -

Thank you to everyone who came out for my State of the City address this week. It's a great time to assess the accomplishments we achieved and obstacles we faced in 2018, and to set goals for the new year. It's also a time to thank those who have helped achieve these goals, and lay out partnerships for the future. I am humbled by the challenges left to tackle and heartened by the overwhelming response I've gotten offering support in these efforts.

The Kingston Visitor's Guide for 2019 has a theme straight from the State of the City, "Strong Roots, Smart Growth," that will showcase Kingston's history and architecture, as well as new and future projects and plans. If you have photos that showcase this theme, please send them to us!

As you may have seen, City Hall is getting a new roof, and there have been cranes and workers here for a few weeks. The workers are hoping to wrap up in the next couple of weeks, but please be advised as you receive your tax documents, we have limited parking spaces and the entire building is a construction zone. If you can, please wait until February to visit City Hall, or pay those via mail.

We had a very successful art opening in our gallery space at City Hall. The exhibit will be on display until March 31. I hope you'll come by to see the work by some very talented Kingston artists.

PUGG Art Exhibit Opening at City Hall

Last Saturday, our Director of Arts & Cultural Affairs Adrielle Farr, along with Arts Mid-Hudson, the Kingston Arts Commission, and the Midtown Arts District, hosted an opening reception for the PUGG Alumni Exhibition. Nearly 100 people attended to see the works of these featured artists, who are all alumni of the Pop-Up Gallery Group. PUGG is an arts management program developed to support current and alumni artists of Kingston High School.

The exhibit will be displayed on the ground floor gallery space at City Hall until March 31. Please come by and see all the beautiful works of art from these talented KHS graduates.

Roof Repair Work at City Hall

Just a reminder that we have some ongoing roof repair work being done at City Hall. Parking is limited, and the front driveway and main entrance are closed . Those who are receiving their tax notices, please send payments in via mail, or wait to visit City Hall when the construction has been cleared and parking spaces are again available. The roof work is scheduled to be done by January 31, and tax payments are due February 14. Thank you for your patience during this time!

Photos for the Kingston Visitor's Guide

The Kingston Visitor's Guide is an essential resource for weekenders, business travelers and newcomers to our City. The theme of the 2019 guide will be "Strong Roots, Smart Growth," which will showcase all the historic treasures Kingston has to offer, while also highlighting all the new opportunities that have come, or are coming, our way. The guide's theme will align with the Mayor's motto for Kingston this year: honoring the past while moving into the future.

If you have photos that illustrate this theme, please send them to us at newsletter@kingston-ny.gov so they can be feature in the 2019 Kingston Visitor's Guide! Show us how you see this concept in the community around you! Deadline for entry is February 22.
