Mayor's Message

Dear Friends,

This past Saturday was a special day for the City of Kingston. I was proud to welcome my colleagues to our first annual City of Kingston Staff and Family Appreciation Day. We had a wonderful gathering of employees from many of our 20+ departments and offices and enjoyed a potluck dinner, family games and a ceremony to acknowledge each of our departments for their efforts.

The work we have before us is daunting, but we are achieving our goals thanks to the energy of our staff and their willingness to try new strategies. Over the past few months, I have asked our staff to push past long-standing barriers to improve our effectiveness and I believe we are making great strides in this process. I am deeply proud of my roots as a City of Kingston employee and look forward to continuing to support our team to achieve the highest standard of public service.

While we continue to build our efforts and capacity in each department, I would love to hear from all of you about positive experiences you have had with our city departments. If you have a story about one of our departments who you feel went above and beyond or demonstrated excellent service, please consider sharing that story  here.

Beautification Project in Downtown Kingston

The Bruderhof Community and Kingston Waterfront Business Association worked together last week to beautify the median on Lower Broadway. The new plantings have made Kingston's Waterfront even more inviting!

This is another excellent example of how fortunate the City is to collaborate with dedicated individuals, groups and businesses willing to invest in the community to make it a better place for all.

**A public hearing scheduled and held last week was determined to be invalid due to an oversight in the publishing of a legal notice in a timely manner. While the City Clerk did submit the required legal notice, it was not printed. No confirmation of receipt nor denial of publishing was provided. The administration has since adjusted its scheduling and has contacted the appropriate office at the City's official paper to ensure this oversight does not occur again. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and encourage all interested individuals to attend this Thursday's hearing. Please note that any feedback received last week will still be entered into the public record.
