Mayor's Message

Dear Friends,
Late last week, I signed Local Law #3, adopting the rules and regulations regarding shooting ranges. Thanks to the tireless efforts and open dialogue of the Common Council, particularly the Laws and Rules Committee, we now have a comprehensive and effective piece of legislation that I believe will best suit our needs in Kingston.

For those of you wishing to read my full statement on Local Law #3, you can read it here.

To read the signed law, you can read it   here.

I also want to thank the numerous community members who participated in this process through public comment. This input was critical and allowed me to hear first hand from our local residents, businesses, and community partners.

My administration has and will continue to promote public involvement and feedback, so I encourage each of you to get involved. It is your input that helps me to do a better job and helps us as a city continue to grow and thrive. Whether it's through your alderman, via phone or e-mail, by letter or on Facebook, or at public speaking sessions, please let your voice be heard.

-Steve

Bike It!
Youth from the Midtown area experienced a special treat last week by participating in a free week-long bike riding program led by Tom Polk of the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County. The program, made possible by a grant from the Woodstock Land Conservancy, allowed youth ages 9-14 to go on all-day adventures throughout the City of Kingston, as well as on nearby rail trails and rural paths.

Pictures provided by Rose Quinn of the Mid-Hudson Health and Safety Institute/SUNY Ulster (pictured above.) Rose assisted on many of the rides throughout the week.
