Mayor's Message
Dear Friends,
Last week marked an important step in our efforts to build a more open and inclusive government, as we hosted our first ever community budget forum. This event featured an engaging and informative presentation by our City Comptroller, John Tuey. His PowerPoint can be found
here. I was especially proud to see so many of our City departments represented at this forum. One of my goals is to remove barriers so that residents, visitors, business owners and other stakeholders can access the information and resources that they need. I believe we're making great strides in this effort and feel that forums like this, in which attendees have direct access to Department Heads and senior staff, are essential to this process. I plan to use this model in the future and encourage each of you to consider attending these events as they come up.
On a separate note, this issue also includes information about the season finale of this year's Movies Under the Stars program. This outdoor movie program continues to be one of Kingston's finest attractions, providing free, family-friendly entertainment in our beautiful parks and public spaces. I want to thank the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to coordinate this program, along with our generous sponsors. I am already looking forward to the 2017 movies season!
-Steve

Community Survey on Budget Priorities Launched
As a follow up to Kingston's first community budget forum,
the City has
launched a short survey to solicit feedback from community members about their priorities in regards to the budget and services. This anonymous and confidential survey takes only a few moments to complete. The results of this survey will be made available to the Mayor and the Common Council so that they may use this input as they craft and revise the proposed 2017 budget, as well as future budgets.
Please take the short survey

Center for Creative Education
Celebrates Another Successful Summer Arts Intensive Program
The Center for Creative Education (CCE), one of Kingston's leading organizations in the areas of youth development, community, arts, culture and wellness, recently hosted its annual two week Summer Arts Intensive program. Mayor Noble visited the program last week and watched as youth shifted from one activity to the next. While some were busy participating in a drumming circle, others were working on creating positive affirmations in their journals or building an adult-sized cardboard puppet.
For more information, visit their website here.
CCE receives funding in part from the City of Kingston's Office of Economic & Community Development through Entitlement funding received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant program.
