Friends,

The mayor and his office remain obstructionists. Click this article from the Houston Chronicle to learn more.

The main role of local government is to provide daily core services by efficiently using tax dollars to improve the quality of life for residents. Each council member is allocated $1 million per fiscal year to use at their discretion because they understand the unique needs of their districts. My office has strategically directed these funds to create programs addressing public safety, maintenance, heavy trash, illegal dumping, animal welfare, public communication, and home repair. Each program my office has put forth has been reviewed by city legal as permissible; however, the mayor’s office has failed to give final approval. Due to their inaction, many of these programs cannot continue to provide the level of service we have been proud to deliver in J City.

Several of our programs are operated by private contractors to supplement the work of our city departments. This enables our residents to get additional services at a faster rate. We believe this is the ideal way to respond to constituent concerns and should be a model city-wide. Instead of being intimated by our ideas, the mayor’s office should work with us on supporting creativity. I remain committed to leading with proactive approaches that will push our city forward into the future.

Together we will!
