Hello to all of our Patriotic residents and surrounding communities:
We had a very moving candlelight 9/11 ceremony this past Monday. We had a full house of caring residents. Our Fire Department and Police Department were on hand in full force honoring those who perished on September 11th.
Our Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts, as always, were there assisting us with our ceremony. They displayed our Village of Suffern 9/11 flag and explained it to the crowd.
We had a wonderful rendition of the National Anthem sung by, Suffern High School student, Ji Ho Lee. She was terrific!
The Rockland County Firefighters Pipes and Drums Band played some very moving songs that filled our hearts with love and joy. Their support of our community is forever appreciated.
I would like to thank the Suffern Chamber of Commerce for working with our Recreation Board members. They all did an amazing job.
We had a spectacular time at our Mayor’s Family Fun Day at the Pool, this past Saturday. It was a blast! We had great food, games, music, and a fabulous community bonding and having fun together. Once again, when we called for the Hula Hoop Contest, everyone ran to the other side of the pool, so they didn’t have to compete against me. I am still the reigning Hula Hoop Champ of the World!
Please save the date of September 30th for SUFFERN DAY. It will be down at the Suffern Ballfields. We will have entertainment, fireworks, food, activities, bands, DJ’s, Police and Fire Rescue, face painting, pumpkin patch, and so much more.
Congratulations and thank you to Firefighter Warren Lenny who received the Rockland County Volunteer Firefighter Association President’s Award. I would like to thank Mr. Lenny on behalf of our whole community for the service and sacrifice that he has given as a lifetime member of our Suffern Volunteer Fire Department.
Best Regards,
Mayor Michael F. Curley
