Happy Friday, Antioch!

I started my week in Nashville for a quick getaway, and somehow managed to run into Sting and even shake Dave Chappelle's hand. Not a bad way to start the week!

After returning home, I had the privilege of appearing on WBEZ, Chicago's NPR station, and meeting with WGN to help highlight Antioch and all the great things happening in our community. I'm always happy to have an opportunity to put Antioch in the spotlight.

This morning, we held our Mayor's Business Roundtable at Village Hall. I really appreciated the opportunity to sit down with our downtown merchants and business owners from throughout the community, hear their concerns, exchange ideas, and discuss how we can better support them.

These conversations are important to me. We have some wonderful businesses in Antioch, and I want to make sure we're doing everything we can to help them succeed. That also means being willing to listen, recognize where we can improve, and ask what I personally can do better as Mayor, and there is plenty that I learned this morning. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to participate. I look forward to continuing these conversations.

Treat The Street, Harvest Fest and Icons of Country Concert: Tomorrow, Saturday, October 24, we have a full day of activities planned with Treat the Streets and Harvest Fest! Treat the Streets runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with more than 50 participating downtown businesses welcoming children for trick-or-treating.

Then head over to the Bandshell at 900 Skidmore Drive for Harvest Fest from noon to 4 p.m. There will be free hayrides, food vendors, bounce houses, games, costume contests, the always-popular pumpkin roll, and family entertainment from Nanny Nikki and Soundwave Entertainment.

We'll also have live music from Icons of Country, featuring tributes to the Zac Brown Band and Miranda Lambert, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. They were the headliners at our Small Town Smoke Out, and we're thrilled to welcome them back to Antioch!

The best part? The weather looks fantastic, with temperatures around 70 degrees and sunshine. I hope everyone comes downtown, supports our local businesses, and enjoys a great fall afternoon.

ACH Football Update: A huge congratulations to our Antioch Community High School football team for finishing the regular season undefeated at 9-0!

The Sequoits earned the No. 1 seed in their Class 5A playoff bracket and a first-round bye. They'll host the winner of tonight's Glenbard South versus Payton College Prep game. The date and time of Antioch's playoff game will be announced once finalized.

What an outstanding accomplishment by these young men and their coaches. Let's keep that momentum going and pack the stands for the playoffs!

Trick-or-Treat: Next Saturday, October 31, is Halloween, and official trick-or-treating hours in Antioch are 3 to 7 p.m. Please be especially careful driving through our neighborhoods and watch out for all the little ghosts and goblins.

Clocks Turn Back: And speaking of Halloween, don't forget that we turn our clocks back one hour early Sunday morning, November 1. Before the local bar owners make their annual call, yes, you get that extra hour when the clocks fall back! Of course, you lose that hour when we move them forward again in the spring. It all

evens out in the end. :)

One Quick Village Reminder: Our Public Works Department begins its fall hydrant flushing program Sunday evening, October 25, focusing on cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets. Some residents may notice temporary water discoloration, so please check your water before doing laundry. Additional information and the flushing schedule are available on the Village website.

It's shaping up to be a beautiful weekend in Antioch, and I hope to see plenty of familiar faces downtown tomorrow.

Last night was an enjoyable Bears game, and good luck to the Brewers in the World Series.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
