This state-of-the-art facility, featuring authentic German red clay courts designed to meet international standards, promises to be a game-changer for players of all skill levels in the Southeastern United States.

Also open now is the new Memorial Park Playground. Located in the heart of Sumter's Historic District, this is just the first phase of improvements scheduled for the storied park.

Our beloved 3.1 mile multi-use path has successfully been renamed the Prisma Health Shot Pouch Greenway. This partnership celebrates a dedication to fostering healthier lifestyles for all Sumter residents and visitors.

And speaking of the greenway, our Swan Lake Trailhead has been completed and we now proudly boast a newly-paved parking lot for all to utilize.

Even our City Council got in on the excitement during the Memorial Park Playground opening! Mayor Merchant enjoyed one of the many new slides, while Councilwoman Kennedy embraced her fun side on the merry-go-round.

The South Sumter Art Park was inspired by the rich history and cultural diversity of the area, creating a space where art, nature, and community come together to inspire creativity and connection.

Work continues to take place on the site of the future Sumter Military Museum. Located on Washington Street adjacent to the Williams-Brice House, the new 36,000 square foot facility is set to open in 2026. The two-story building will comprise of multiple exhibits dedicated to military and local history, and will display the works of local artist Grainger McKoy, as well as pieces from the esteemed private collection of military and Sumter historian Sammy Way. This initiative aims to honor local military history and serve as an educational resource, enhancing cultural engagement and tourism in the area.

Placing Roll Carts Correctly

Because of our new side-loading trucks, we have changed the way roll carts need to be placed. If you have one of our new cans or an older one, your handle goes towards the house. When in Doubt, Remember: #HandlesTowardTheHouse
