A Message from Mayor Susan Shin Angulo
|
|
Dear Neighbor:
I am happy to report that our reopening of Town Hall and the Department of Public Works to the public this week has gone very well. After several months of operating virtually, residents are now welcome to visit municipal offices to conduct business within Town Hall and the Department of Public Works. As always, residents are encouraged to save time and continue to take advantage of the Township’s convenient, online options to conduct business and access services with the Township, like applying for permits, paying tax or sewer bills, or reporting concerns like fallen trees and potholes, among others. With continued guidance from Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders and the CDC regarding unvaccinated individuals, areas where the public interacts with Township employees have been outfitted with clear plastic barriers, and residents are asked to wear a mask when inside Town Hall and Public Works.
The Cherry Hill Senior Bus will restart service on Tuesday, July 6, with Tom and Marie also returning as drivers. All riders must wear a mask while on the bus, in accordance with the state’s current mask requirements for public transit. Bus service is offered for free to residents age 62 and up, and runs Monday through Friday. The Senior Bus service was initially put on pause during the pandemic, and a return to service in the spring was delayed after the bus was among the 10 municipal vehicles impacted by a theft of catalytic converters. Repairs to the bus were recently completed. For more information about the Senior Bus service, please call 856-661-4711 (Cherry Hill Bus East) or 856-661-4802 (Cherry Hill Bus West).
In addition, I hope you will join us next weekend on Sunday, July 4 for our Independence Day 5K and Block Party that will be held at Croft Farm. There will be post-race refreshments, an awards ceremony, giveaways, a DJ, inflatable games for the kids, a balloon artist, airbrush tattoos and a bubble show. You can find more information about this event below.
Please continue to stay safe.
Sincerely,
|

Mayor Attends First Barclay Farm Swim Club Pride Event
|
|
|
On Wednesday, Mayor Angulo celebrated the inaugural Barclay Farm Swim Club Pride Picnic and Pool Party. The event was created by Cherry Hill residents, Rachel Garff and Meredith Gammell. The two realized there were no LGBTQ+ outreach programs at local swim clubs and decided to create one.
We look forward to this becoming a new township tradition!

Why Should You Grasscycle?
|
|
|
Grasscycling is the natural recycling of grass by leaving clippings on the lawn when mowing. Grass clippings decompose quickly, returning valuable nutrients back to the soil. We encourage our residents to grasscycle to not only benefit your yard, but it will help you save on costs.
FREE LAWN FOOD! Grass clippings contain nitrogen and potassium which provide beneficial natural nutrients for your lawn.
SAVINGS! Lawn additives cost money and may harm the lawn.
SAFETY! According to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection dozens of people in New Jersey poison themselves by not following the label warnings on lawn chemicals.
RECOMMENDED! Reputable lawn care specialists like Lawn Doctor and Scott’s Lawn Care Products also favor the cutting it and leaving it approach to lawn maintenance.
For more information on the benefits of the “cut it and leave it” program, follow the link.

It's wonderful to be able to stay in our homes as seniors and stay close to family, friends, neighbors, and religious organizations. As Cherry Hill residents, there are several programs available to keep senior homeowners safe and comfortable in their homes.
The Handy Helper Program is for income-qualified senior citizens (62 and older) and disabled adults who need assistance with minor repairs. The Township will arrange for a certified contractor to complete any plumbing, carpentry, or other minor home repairs. This service is free to those who qualify.
The Cherry Hill Fire Department runs the Home Smoke Alarm Program. If you do not have working smoke alarms or are unsure if your alarms are working, please call the Fire Marshal's Office at 856-429-7441 and ask about the Home Smoke Alarm Program. A CHFD representative will evaluate the level of existing protection within your home and install smoke alarms as necessary. Homes constructed after 1977 are required to be equipped with hardwired (electric) smoke alarms. CHFD cannot replace hardwired smoke alarms with battery powered alarms within these homes.
Be sure to sign up for homestead rebates and tax freeze rebate.
For more information on these programs or any other senior citizen issues, please contact Gaye Pino, Senior Services Program Coordinator, at GPino@chtownship.com.
