Deputy Mayor Lopez attended the ribbon-cutting for King's House of Fire at 345 N. Highland Avenue. The King family has a long history in Ossining, dating back to the King Shell station on South Highland Avenue operated by Walter King Sr. and Walter King Jr. Walter King III is now continuing that local connection with this new dispensary. We wish them well as they open their doors in the community.

This week’s Legislative Meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 at 7:30PM at the Courthouse.

Some items of note (items in yellow were discussed at the most recent Work Session):

  1. We will begin with a Public Hearing on Small-Scale Zoning Part Two (at the September 23rd Work Session, we discussed Westchester County Planning’s comments on the proposed legislation).
  2. We will then have a resolution for the Board to adopt a local law updating the residency requirements for certain Village officers in the Village charter.
  3. The BOT will have a resolution to refer the Board’s intention to extend the BESS (Battery Energy Storage) Moratorium to the Planning Board, who will discuss this at their October 27th meeting. This contemplates a 4-month extension of the moratorium, which is currently scheduled to end on December 27, 2026.
  4. The BOT will have a resolution to call for a Public Hearing on the recommended changes to sections of the Village’s code related to parking (specifically, sections 250-23.19, 250-23.20, and 250-23.21—the overnight hardship parking exemption wholesale, as well as the specific components related to “improper area” and “commercial vehicle” restrictions.
  5. We will have a resolution for the BOT to authorize payment of a tax certiorari for the property at 79 South Highland Avenue—the Village’s total refund has been calculated at $35,744.45.
  6. Though we don’t have a date yet, we are asking the Board to pass a resolution authorizing us to go to bid on construction of the Route 9 Safety Enhancements project (finally!).

The Village of Ossining's offices (including the Joseph G. Caputo Center) are closed Monday October 12th in observance of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
