Sustainable Westchester has informed us that the Westchester Power renewable energy program will be discontinued at the end of this year. This decision results from practical implementation challenges associated with recently-adopted State outreach and education mandates. Sustainable Westchester has concluded that these regulatory requirements cannot be met on a schedule consistent with the program’s continued operation.

Starting with this December’s utility bill, customers who take no action will be returned to [Con Edison/NYSEG] as their default supplier of electricity.

As an alternative, customers may select another Energy Services Company (“ESCO”) for electricity supply. A list of currently active suppliers can be found at:

For Con Edison: https://www.coned.com/en/save-money/shop-for-energy-service-companies

For NYSEG: https://www.nyseg.com/account/understandyourbill/chooseasupplier

The Village of Ossining remains committed to working with Sustainable Westchester to accelerate a transition to clean power, promote energy efficiency, reduce costs, and improve resiliency.

The Village and Town of Ossining are proud to announce that we will be offering the Military Tribute banner program for 2026 to recognize veterans and active-duty service members. This program provides our community an opportunity to honor our beloved Veterans, active duty, Reserve, and National Guard members with beautiful military banners displayed in our community.

A symbol of honor and respect, the banners serve as a meaningful keepsake after they've been displayed. Each family/sponsor of the military banners has the option to have them stored and reinstalled along with new banners for Memorial Day 2026, ensuring their safety and preservation for a fee of $50 per banner for the season (click here for the 2025/2026 Banner Storage Form).

How It Works:

Community members, businesses, or organizations can sponsor a banner to honor a service member of their choosing. The banner is customized with a military service member's name, photo, and service branch and will be displayed in both the Village and Town of Ossining. The Village and Town of Ossining are proudly working with Military Tribute Banners to create and print these custom banners, which will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day 2026. Banners will be given to the family/sponsor after the display period. If the family/sponsor wants the Village/Town to store and reinstall them for the 2026 season, there will be a charge in November 2025. This fee will be $50 per banner, as was announced in the 2025 Budget and Fee Schedule that was adopted in December 2024.

Sponsor A Banner:

Honor a veteran in your life by customizing a tribute banner with the photo and name of your hero. Orders are placed directly through Military Tribute Banners, a trusted partner who will work with you to ensure your banner is of the highest quality. They will guide you through the customization process. Please note that payment must be received before the design can begin.

The Military Tribute Banner application portal will reopen for new orders on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, and close on Friday, February 27th, 2026. Banners will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. If, for any reason, we sell out of those spots, communication will be shared with the public, and the ordering site will be closed. Kindly note that banners purchased in 2024 and 2025 will be hung alongside the new banners on roads in the Village and Town of Ossining themed around a specific conflict era, with banners displayed chronologically. Please note that we cannot accept specific pole requests due to the number of banners displayed and that we cannot guarantee that banners will be hung in the same location that they were in 2024 and 2025.

The sponsorship rate is $250/sponsored banner. For additional details, please contact Village Historian Joyce Sharrock Cole at historian@villageofossiningny.gov.

It's budget time! We began our budget meetings yesterday, November 11th.

The Village's annual budget is more than just a stack of numbers—it's a clear roadmap that shows our community's priorities, outlining where our funding comes from (projected revenue) and how we plan to spend it (costs, services, and future investments). It shows exactly what revenue will pay for which essential departmental services.

Our staff has been hard at work, and we're excited to share the 2026 budget proposal with the Board of Trustees for their discussion and final approval!

We take this process very seriously. As part of their essential duty to manage the Village's finances, the mayor and the five elected Trustees are the only ones who can officially approve the annual budget.

Developing this budget is about much more than just crunching figures. It’s a strategic plan that considers the needs and priorities of everyone who has a stake in our community—our residents, local businesses, volunteers, employees, and administrators. This document truly impacts the Village for years to come.

We believe in transparency and welcome you to be part of the process! We hold a number of public meetings where the recommended budget is reviewed, and we encourage the public to observe these important discussions.

Here are the remainder of meetings:

  • Wednesday, November 12, 2025 @ 5:30 PM
  • Thursday, November 13, 2025 @ 5:30 PM

All meetings are held in the Board Room at Village Hall and will be recorded via Zoom.
