MAYOR'S UPDATE

From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

Last week, the developers broke ground on Croton Ave. for a new 73-unit, all-affordable senior housing complex called Crescent Manor! The development is open to individuals and couples aged 62 and older. As an environmentalist working towards making Ossining the Greenest Village in the Country, I am beyond thrilled to note that this complex will have a passive home certification that will reduce energy and emissions beyond the minimum code requirements in New York.

New senior housing project breaks ground in Ossining

Congratulations to our newly appointed Police officers, Jeffrey Ward and James Hogan!

Did you see? The Ossining Parks Dept has planted native wild perennial pollinator flowers around the Village. What's most exciting is that the majority of the plants and flowers in these gardens were started from seed by members of our Senior Gardening Program. Our gardeners have also grown Hosta plants and ferns that have been planted in the tree wells on Main Street and Spring Street, as well as Duers Circle!

Locations:

  • Sparta Park
  • Ossining sign at the intersection of Croton Ave and Pleasantville Road
  • Entrance of Veteran’s Park
  • Ossining Sign on North Highland Avenue

What an exciting weekend to kick off summer in Ossining! We began on Saturday with the Village and Town’s 2nd Annual Military Banner Program Presentation at the Ossining Public Library, where we celebrated our community's beloved Veterans, active duty, Reserve, and National Guard members.

At the event, each banner was read aloud – roll call style for the years of 2024 and 2025. We included the service member's name, rank, sponsor, military branch, service dates, war or conflict era, and additional information or awards earned, as read by our guests.

Banners will remain on display on Croton Avenue through Veterans Day and will be stored for our 2026 program. For those unable to participate this year, the 2026 banner campaign will begin on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2025.

I am so pleased that the weather cleared up so that the community could come out to celebrate the Memorial Day parade through Ossining, followed by a inspiring celebration held at Nelson Park that included well over 150 community members.
