MAYOR'S UPDATE

From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

Our new multi-story parking hub is a significant step forward, providing over 200 vehicle parking spaces and bicycle infrastructure to accommodate parking and electric charging. This will improve the parking and positively affect economic development in our downtown. This is one of the initiatives born out of the 2021 DRI grant and often referred to as the Multi-Modal Transportation Hub in the Brandreth Street parking lot, which sits between our main street and the community center.

I am pleased to announce that the community input and the design phase are complete, and contract documents are being finalized. We expect bids in mid-May. New York utility companies (ConEd, Verizon, and Altice) are relocating their poles/ wires to ensure everything is done safely. As part of this process, we had to remove some trees, which will be replaced with new trees at a later date. There will be a few more opportunities for community engagement as we move forward with the timelines. With these significant milestones achieved, we are well on our way to bringing this project to life.

We anticipate construction will start this summer, and we will notify the public once specific dates are finalized.

Please note that during the construction period;

  • Hourly paid parking is available in portions of the Spring/Main Street East (Market Square) and West (Post Office) Lots and at on-street meters along Main Street, Spring Street, Broad Avenue, and Croton Avenue
  • Muni Day and Muni Night Permit parking is available in Municipal Lots throughout the Village, including the Spring/ Main Street Lots, with the closest overnight parking (8PM-8AM) with a Muni Night Permit in portions of the Spring/Main Street East Parking Lot in Zone 91417 and Spring/ Main Street West Lot in Zone 91415.
  • Please be sure to follow all posted parking signage, as parking rules are still in effect.
