MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

On Sunday, June 1, a violent antisemitic attack occurred in Boulder, Colorado, during a peaceful walk organized by the group “Run for Their Lives” to support hostages held in Gaza. The assailant, identified as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, used a makeshift flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to assault participants near the Pearl Street Mall, injuring eight individuals aged between 52 and 88. Witnesses reported that Soliman shouted “Free Palestine” and other anti-Jewish slogans during the attack. The FBI is treating the incident as a targeted terrorist attack and a potential hate crime.
To the Mayor and his community, I want to extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you and the people of Boulder in the wake of this terrible act of violence. I am deeply saddened by the pain your community is facing. No one should have to experience such acts of hate, and we stand with you as you support those affected, honor the victims, and begin the difficult process of community healing. Please know that we are thinking of you and sending strength during this difficult time.

On Monday, I was joined in Market Square by several folks from the Ossining LGBTQ+ community for the 7th Annual Raising of the Pride Flag!
As Mayor of the Village of Ossining, I'm honored to recognize and celebrate Pride Month with our vibrant and diverse community. Pride is a time to reflect on the courage, resilience, and contributions of our LGBTQ+ neighbors—past and present—who continue to shape our Village with strength and love.
Here in Ossining, we believe everyone deserves to live authentically and be treated with dignity and respect. Pride Month reminds us of the power of visibility, the importance of allyship, and the work that still lies ahead to ensure true equality for all.
Let's continue building a community where everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated—not just in June but every day of the year.
| | It was an honor to stand up with our community this past Saturday and rally against those who abuse their powers. These cutbacks to Medicare, senior and youth programs, government projects, environmental initiatives, and healthcare are detrimental to communities like ours. | | |
This weekend’s moving Juneteenth Kick-Off Celebration: Unity & Shared History at the Bethany Arts Community was truly an event that captured the theme of One event. One community. One voice. These community events are crucial in fostering a sense of connection and engagement among us all.
Thank you to the Ossining Juneteenth Council and the Countywide Juneteenth Coalition, with support from the Westchester County Government, for producing this event.

This week, we will begin working on the roof at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, with an expected completion at the end of June.
While the upper lot handicapped parking area will be temporarily blocked for the roofing company's operations, we want to assure you that we have taken steps to ensure continued accessibility. Additional handicapped parking spots have been created in the lower lot, and the upper entrance to the Center will be closed until further notice.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time of change. All customers are kindly requested to enter through the lower level. Additionally, the after-school buses will drop off students at the corner of Broadway and the lower parking lot.
