Hello to all of our Holiday Season Loving residents and surrounding communities:

These last couple of weeks have been very exciting and enjoyable. The Christmas Tree lighting was fun, and we were all entertained inside with the Cherry Lane Handbell Choir. This event was a great start to our Holiday Parade, which was an absolute complete success.

The parade was bigger and better than ever. All of the Village employees and volunteers work together to make it the best parade in the whole world. Santa Claus actually called me up to thank all of us for a huge success.

Our Hanukkah Menorah Lighting was a very heartwarming event with the cold weather. We had a wonderful turnout of our residents and dignitaries. I am not Jewish, but I am getting better at singing the Hanukkah songs. As I said, I am not Jewish, but I like the idea of getting presents for eight days in a row. So please send on my Hanukkah presents…you have seven days left!

I am proud of Suffern for continuing the tradition of having Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. We had a very patriotic turnout of young and old alike. We had Michael Galella as our guest speaker. His father “Chick” was a survivor from Pearl Harbor who use to participate in our Remembrance Ceremonies until he died approximately two years ago.

We had our Suffern High School Chamber Orchestra, led by Mr. Dan McCarter, play the most wonderful music you could imagine. Cub Scout Pack 23 and Boy Scout Troop 21, once again, outdid themselves representing their organizations with pride and distinction.

Legislator Phil Soskin delivered a heartfelt speech about the challenges of life and the greatness of America. We had other speakers as well. They included State Senator Bill Weber, Legislator-Elect Jesse Malowitz, Former-Congressman Mondaire Jones, Former-State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, and Father John from Sacred Heart Church. Supervisor Michael Specht once again delivered a heartwarming, caring speech about history and the challenges we face today.

I especially would like to thank the children who keep our traditions and history alive as well as all of the people who came to experience the love and patriotic feeling that filled the room.

Best Regards, Mayor Curley
