A Message from the Mayor

Dear Neighbor:

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.

This weekend, people across Cherry Hill and the Delaware Valley will join the nation as we come together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thank you to everyone that will be volunteering this weekend and continuing Dr. King's legacy here in Cherry Hill and across our region, today and every day. If you're interested in volunteer opportunities this weekend, please visit mlkdayofservice.org.

As a reminder, the Township Municipal Building and Department of Public Works will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Trash and recycling will be collected as normal.

I'd like to also share some good news with you. Moody's Investor Service recently reaffirmed Cherry Hill's Aaa bond rating, the highest possible rating, which allows the Township to secure the lowest interest rates offered to municipalities. That means we can continue to invest in our neighborhoods, roads, public safety, recreation facilities and other vital Township services, while saving taxpayer dollars. For more information, check out the press release on our homepage by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Susan Shin Angulo

Cherry Hill Township Maintains Aaa Bond Rating from Moody’s

Mayor Susan Shin Angulo and Council President David Fleisher are pleased to announce Cherry Hill Township maintained its Aaa bond rating from Moody's Investor Service, the highest possible. Cherry Hill is one of just 24 municipalities in New Jersey, and the only one in Camden County, to currently hold the rating.

The Aaa rating was first secured in 2020 during Mayor Susan Shin Angulo’s first year in office. Since the rating allows the Township to secure the lowest interest rates offered to municipalities, it can result in significant savings of tax dollars. Click "Read More' below for more information about the ratings decision.

Disposing of Paint

Latex Paint Disposal (water based)

Dried Latex Paint is water based; it is NOT hazardous waste and should be disposed inside of your GREEN Cherry Hill issued tote as trash. Here is how to properly prepare and dispose of latex paint (water based):

  1. Make sure the paint can is ½ full or less. (if can is more than ½ full, pour the excess into another container – like a milk jug, coffee can or trash bag)
  2. Add clay based kitty litter, mulch or speedy dry so that the can is ¾ full
  3. Stir paint/kitty litter or speedy dry mixture
  4. If liquid paint remains, add more kitty litter, mulch or speedy dry
  5. Allow paint/kitty litter, mulch or speedy dry mixture to dry until it is no longer pourable
  6. Dispose of dried paint can in the GREEN Cherry Hill issued tote

DO NOT PUT THE LID BACK ON THE PAINT CAN! Paint cans will NOT be collected if they are not completely dried and disposed of inside the township issued green trash tote.

WET PAINT SPILLS INTO THE STREET AND STORM WATER SYSTEMS IF NOT PROPERLY DRIED BEFORE DISPOSING. Please consider the environment before improperly disposing of paint.

Oil Based Paint Disposal

Oil based paint is flammable and MUST be disposed of at one of the several Camden County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events held between March and October.

Please call Cherry Hill Department of Public Works (856) 424-4422 or Camden County Hazardous Waste (856) 858-5241 for more information.

Senior Living

AARP Senior Tax Help- By Appointment Only!

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide services will again be available to Cherry Hill area residents from February 1 through April 12 - with a different twist for 2021: There will be no on-site traditional tax preparation where the taxpayer sits with an AARP Tax-Aide during the tax preparation process.

Instead, taxpayers will have the choice of 2 service models:

Same Day Drop-Off: Taxpayers interact with an IRS-certified Tax-Aide in a 20-30 minute in-person and socially distanced meeting. During the appointment, the Tax-Aide will complete the intake process and write a receipt for all tax documents collected. These meetings, available by appointment only, will take place in the Municipal Building in Room 208 on Tuesdays and Fridays, 10am to 2pm.

Before the taxpayer leaves, they will make a follow-up appointment to return the same day to review the printed tax return, sign an authorization for AARP Foundation to file the return electronically, and acknowledge their receipt of the original tax documents.

Taxpayers can only make appointments by accessing the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Site Locator for Cherry Hill at: www.aarpfoundation.org/Tax-Aide after January 15th. Taxpayers will receive an automatic confirmation email. A follow-up email from aarp.cc.pt@gmail.com will include the links to documents to be printed, completed, and brought to the drop-off site. If you do not have a printer, packets containing all required documents will be available for pick-up at the Community Center and the Municipal building.

If there are no appointments available, taxpayers can add themselves to the appointment waitlist. An AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will contact waitlisted taxpayers by phone as appointments become available.

Self Preparation: Under this model, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides taxpayers with free access to software so they can prepare their own taxes. Taxpayers can also request help from an IRS-certified counselor to coach them through the process by phone or through computer screen-sharing. Participants can only request virtual tax prep assistance through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide's website www.aarpfoundation.org/Tax-Aide. Participants must provide a private email address to use this model.

Please do not contact this site about any of the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide service offerings. They are wonderful, supportive hosts, but they are not AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers.
