AA in Action will light your fire in April! Renew your spirit and rekindle your soul during this month of April at Ahavath Achim. According to our tradition, we celebrate Freedom, retelling the story of our liberation from Egypt and savoring the taste of freedom with a sumptuous meal. With gratitude for our blessings, we must also open our hearts to provide for those with the most basic need of all - hunger. We cannot fully observe Passover until we have reached beyond our own tables and filled the plates of those who have less. Become a part of AA in Action to discover how you can make a difference and shine your light to help others.

Human Traffick Proof the ATL
Monday, April 15 | 7 - 8:30 pm
Temple Sinai - 5645 Dupree Dr. NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30327
|
Please plan to join us for an opportunity to learn and understand the devastating impact of sex and labor trafficking on our local Atlanta community. Deborah Richardson, Executive Director of the International Human Trafficking Institute, an initiative of the Center for Civil and Human Rights, will guide us in how to raise awareness about trafficking in Atlanta and the steps we need to take to end it. The Institute has a three-year plan to train 50,000 people to recognize human trafficking, and we want to ensure that the Jewish Community is a vital and active part of that plan. Together, we hope to destroy the cloak of anonymity that surrounds human trafficking. Let’s come together to find out how we can be a part of the Institute’s plan to “Learn something. See something. Do Something.” This program will be followed by later additional training opportunities enabling those who are interested to serve as leaders in facilitating a community-wide response to the problem of human trafficking, dates for subsequent training are to be announced.
AA is a proud community co-sponsor of this event!

Bless the Animals
Sunday, May 19 | 12:30 - 2 pm | AA Front Lawn
|
Join us for Bless the Animals! This event is being organized by our young members and recently-turned Bar and Bat Mitzvah, Harrison Leusink and Rachel Cozewith, as part of their Mitzvah project. All proceeds and donations made will benefit Bosley's Place, a rescue orphanage for newborn and neonatal puppies. By taking in and caring for the homeless and orphaned underage puppies, Bosley's Place frees up foster homes for other dogs that otherwise might end up 'on death row' due to overcrowded shelters, helping to save many more lives.
At the event, enjoy pet-friendly activities, face painting, and pizza!
If you bring your pet, please make sure it’s on a leash or caged at all times. We want this to be a fun and safe place for all.

Are you a warm, friendly, dedicated volunteer who wants to make a difference in a fellow congregant’s life through acts of loving kindness? Are you willing to make a personal call or visit to comfort and support a congregant who has lost a loved one or been ill? These caring touches - acts of loving kindness - make all the difference in the world to those receiving them. If you want to be a part of strengthening our community, then AA's new Chesed Initiative is for you! This committee will work with our clergy, staff, and lay leaders to connect members who need help with members who want to do good deeds! Additionally, if you know of a congregant who is facing personal difficulties related to health, loss, or grief, please contact Fern Schorr at
fschorr@aasynagogue.org or 404.355.5222 to let us know. Help us reach out to members in need. We welcome your help and time with this important project.

Everyone who walks through our doors on Shabbat and holidays is greeted with a warm welcome. This is made possible by our devoted members who are part of our greeter team. Being a greeter is an easy and fun way to connect with other congregants, meet new people and become an integral part of the synagogue. If you can smile and say "Shabbat Shalom" then you are a fully trained greeter. Greeters stay in the foyer in front of Ellman Chapel for approximately one hour on Shabbat and holidays and take one-hour shifts on the High Holidays. To join the greeter team contact Mildred or Marty Kwatinetz at
zaydekw@comcast.net or 404.812.1734.
