Looking Past the Headlines

We have had a roller-coaster ride in 2020 so far, and the rest of the year looks to be no easier—and probably just as hard. The election is coming up, the third wave of the virus is underway, large parts of the country are on fire, and a record-setting hurricane season is in progress. And that’s just in the U.S. Looking abroad, at least two things—Brexit and the U.S.-China trade war—would be making bigger headlines here in any other year. There is a lot to pay attention to, a lot to worry about, and a lot that could go wrong. With everything in play, we need to remember to do something critical.

Breathe.

UNITED WAY OF UNION COUNTY

McCarthy & Cox will match the first
$1,500 of client donations to United Way!

United Way of Union County (UWUC) held their first virtual kick-off on Sept. 1 to inaugurate the 2020-21 campaign season. The choice to go virtual due to the pandemic further emphasized the need for critical funding for the 26 local partner agencies the UWUC supports.

UWUC partner agencies meet the needs of the UWUC’s four impact areas; Economic Stability (food and shelter); Access to Health (ex. prescription assistance and peer counseling for mental health); Childhood Success (ex. Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts); and Senior Engagement (ex. Richwood Civic Center and Union County Neighbor to Neighbor).
