April 2014

Message from County Executive John Lovick
Our hearts are heavy knowing the Oso, Darrington, and Arlington communities are forever changed by this tragic and devastating event. We grieve with the families who've lost loved ones, and we mourn for their loss. To honor them, our flags will remain at half-staff until further notice.

But if there's a bright spot, it's knowing that the Snohomish County family is strong, and we'll pull together to do whatever it takes to help.

So thank you for all you're doing and for your compassion and concern.

Squire Creek Park can be accessed via the Mountain Loop Highway through Granite Falls (due to the SR-530 closure).

The Centennial Trail was not affected by the slide. However, one mile of the six miles that is open on the Whitehorse Trail was affected. The focus currently is to open up Highway 530 first and look at trail options second.

Esperance Park invasive plants removed

On Saturday March 29th, in between rain showers and wind storms, more than a dozen of members of the Friends of Esperance Park held their third semi-annual parks clean-up.

Each event, which is organized by the Friends of Esperance Park and supported by the Parks Department, has focused on removing invasive holly, blackberry and English ivy from the wooded area of Esperance Park.
