The Simsbury Room - a New Gift to the Employees of McLean

The employee "break room" has recently received a make-over, thanks to the generous gift made by the friends and family of former resident, Jean Mulpeter.

The gift was made in recognition of the family's appreciation of the care she received at McLean and their wish to give employees
a beautiful place to relax. The enhancements include:
tables and chairs (including several that are pub height), couches, refrigerator, bookshelf for games and a book swap, computer and computer table, and wall decorations. Charging stations and new curtains will be added soon!

The staff has been so appreciative and is enjoying the space that opened with a ice cream celebration, another piece of this kind and generous gesture.

Dining Update

Resident and family feedback has been  instrumental in helping us identify customer preferences!  With your help, we have been able to learn which meals are the favorites, and which we can change.

When eggplant parmesan was not well- received, it was replaced with baked manicotti. Sloppy joe on a bun is back by popular demand and roasted vegetable & hummus wraps were replaced by an all-time favorite, macaroni and cheese
We have also included seasonal favorites such as, corn on the cob, avocado, and fresh local tomatoes.
The addition of a third menu cycle will help us to offer greater variety.
Our Fall/Winter menu begins October 7th , so keep your eye out for apple and pumpkin desserts, savory winter squash and some traditional winter all-time favorites!

Community Cafe

The next Community Cafe will be held on:

Saturday, October 13th
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

McLean Celebrations
The rainy weather didn't stop us from enjoying a summer evening,  indoor "Garden Party" together with groups from across our entire campus.

Health Center and Village residents, family and staff enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining musical performance by "Just Friends" and soft-serve ice cream from the Mr Softee truck just outside our front door.

The band played resident requests, and even an impromtu song with one of our CNAs as the lead singer!

We were so glad some of you were able to make it out to enjoy
these festivities with us!
