The Art of Experience

Congratulations to McLean residents Judith Devlin and Nancy Olson for being selected to exhibit their art in Connecticut's only Senior Juried Art Show, The Art of Experience 2018.

This annual event is open to seniors age 70+, whose  pieces have been selected based upon the photographs submitted. It has
hosted artists and their work from 64 towns across
Connecticut and the average number of pieces chosen each year is around 200.

Nancy's "Flowers in a Blue Pot" created in water color pencils and Judy's "Pseudo Pstarry Night," acrylic painting will be on display at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury, CT, from September 21- 23.

All of the artwork chosen for this show will be juried and the winners in four categories (Most Expressive, Most Innovative, Abstract and Best Execution) will be on exhibit at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut, from October 7- November 11.

We are so proud of these women, as well as our many talented artists who participate in Open Art class on Mondays. This class, open to all residents, studies famous artists and art forms each month.

McLean residents will attend the opening reception on September 21st and we encourage families and friends to stop by, as well!

"Personalized Health and Medication Tuning"

A Free Seminar Presented by:
Mohan Kocherla, MS, MS-MIS, MBA
Founder and President of Center for DNA Guided Medicine

It seems that nearly everything is being customized today, and healthcare is just now starting to catch up! With the Center for DNA Guided Medicine, the "one-size-fits-all" approach to prescribing medications are advancing to a more personalized method of drug selection. This new, more modern method is based upon the genetic capacity of each individual to metabolize each drug and account for commonly asked questions like:
  • Why don't my medications work?
  • How come the pill that gives me side effects doesn't give my friend any trouble?
  • Will my medications work better if I take more or less?
  • What combination of pills are the safest for me?
