Mr. Dave Mueller
Principal's Corner

McNicholas is a strong community - a community that built the Paradise sports complex over a decade, that moved McNick at Night online overnight as the pandemic arose, that is rallying in the face of the pandemic today. This strong community wants to do everything possible so that no family leaves because of financial concerns. If you have questions about tuition payments or tuition assistance for this year or next, please contact Roberta Veleta, Director of Finance, at rveleta@mcnhs.org . So much is unknown right now. We might not have all of the answers when you first reach out. But beginning a conversation will be the first step toward finding solutions. Amid the uncertainty around us, the school wants to stretch as far as possible within its resources to keep the whole school community together next year. Thanks for the ways in which you strengthen the school community.

Thanks to the seniors who responded to the survey about preferences for senior celebrations: prom, athletic banquet, graduation, and an eventual on-campus new alumni celebration for the Class of 2020. Thanks to the parents of seniors who responded about their preferences for graduation. This feedback along with information from the Archdiocese and orders from the Governor will guide the decisions about McNicholas celebrations. While it would be wonderful to have clear plans today, it's necessary to wait a bit to determine the best possible celebrations. Here is a summary of the senior survey results about prom, athletic banquet, and a non-campus celebration for our newest alumni. Summary results of the senior and parent surveys about graduation will appear in an upcoming newsletter.

Schmidt named Athletic Director

McNicholas High School is pleased to announce that Drew Schmidt '06 has been named athletic director. Schmidt succeeds Rob Heise who is retiring after 30 years at McNicholas High School.

Schmidt comes to McNicholas from Covington Catholic High School where he served as assistant athletic director. He coached baseball at Anderson High School and baseball, basketball, and football at Turpin High School. Schmidt also served as president of the Southwest Ohio Baseball Coaches Association and as director of baseball operations for Xavier University where he played baseball from 2007-2010. He is currently the varsity head baseball coach for McNicholas. Schmidt has also been operations coordinator and agent for Siemers Insurance Agency since 2012.

"McNicholas is excited to welcome Drew to the school's leadership team," Dave Mueller, principal, said. "He has a clear vision for the athletic department that will drive enrollment and build camaraderie within the McNicholas community. He is committed to helping McNicholas thrive as a place where student athletes can grow in faith, knowledge, and strength."

"I couldn't be more ecstatic and grateful to be selected as a leader of this school that was so good to me growing up," Schmidt said. "McNicholas had such a huge impact on me throughout my formative years and is where I have generated so many fond relationships in a special community. Being the athletic director is about serving that community as well as building and maintaining a first-class athletic program."
