Mcity proposes test method, scoring approach for validating safety of HAVs
In a new white paper , Mcity outlines the primary challenges of conducting its ABC safety validation tests for Highly Automated Vehicles (HAVs), a methodology for completing them and a concept for using the results to develop a safety rating system.

The paper expands on the Mcity ABC Test concept detailed in a white paper last year. Safety validation is a crucial element for improving the public’s trust in automated vehicle technology. The new white paper is meant to spark collaborative discussions and interested parties are invited to participate in the process of refining the proposed methodology.
Mcity prepares to safely reopen test facility amid COVID-19
As work begins across the University of Michigan to implement necessary safety protocols for important research to continue, Mcity’s Test Facility is well-positioned for reopening. Instead of an indoor lab where people are working together in close proximity, Mcity’s 32-acre outdoor lab already allows for contact-less testing through two important technologies.

Mcity’s software interface allows users to obtain access to and control many aspects of the Mcity Test Facility remotely with point-and-click controls that minimize human contact. Additionally, we continue to make progress on our augmented reality capabilities which increase efficiency of development work. Testing in the virtual world adds to the safety of test engineers.
Mcity Partner News: How Mcity partners are helping fight COVID-19
Mcity’s industry partners are helping combat the COVID-19 pandemic by switching gears to manufacture PPE, deploying technology to track social distancing and donating modified vehicles to safely transport people to testing sites. We are proud of the many ways they are pitching in to benefit society.
