$5.1 million NSF award enables next-generation AV testing at Mcity
"Mcity 2.0" will give academic researchers nationwide, many without testing resources today, remote access to the Mcity Test Facility, creating a more equitable field in mobility. A formal launch event was held at Mcity in October, with guest speakers from the National Science Foundation, Michigan Engineering, and the U-M Office of Research, along with U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Trevor Pawl, chief mobility officer for the state of Michigan.
Transportation data fuels innovation; access limited by unclear use standards
In a new white paper, Covington & Burling LLP, a Washington, DC-based global law firm and a member of Mcity's Leadership Circle, identifies barriers to accessing transportation data and explains the pros and cons of license provisions and contracting tools available to data providers. Valuable insights abound in data gathered by smart infrastructure in cities across the country that could help find ways to reduce traffic jams, make roads safer and bring more mobility options to more people.
