August 1, 2018

Wow! August 1st has arrived and we are getting prepared for the 2018 - 2019 School Year. What happens at Meadow Lake in the summer? We had one of the largest STEM-tastic programs ever! In fact, we had a waitlist for the program! This is fantastic as our students had great programming and enrichment activities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math! A special thank you to the Meadow Lake teachers, staff, cooks and custodians for helping with this program.

Our custodians are working hard to clean every inch of the school. The floors are sparkling, the hallways are clean and tidy, and the desks and classrooms are ready for students. A special thank you to Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Gonzalez, and Mr. Merchant for their hard work.

For those of you new to Meadow Lake - WELCOME! We cannot wait for you to join our Meadow Lake Community. Our mascot is the Eagle - EAGLE PRIDE! We hope that this newsletter helps you get acquainted with our school and happenings in the Meadow Lake Community!

The first newsletter had a wrong date. Please add this to your calendar:
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Ms. Benz, Principal
Mr. Purvis, Assistant Principal
The school supply list was sent home in the end of the year Report Card envelope.

Please see the attached school supply list for Meadow Lake Elementary:

If you have a new neighbor or friend that plans on attending Meadow Lake, please encourage them to register for school EARLY.

The Registration Office is located at the Robbinsdale Education Service Center (4148 Winnetka Avenue, New Hope - across from the McDonalds)

Please help promote our wonderful school and registering new students. This helps us also plan for the new students attending Meadow Lake for the upcoming year.
Mark your calendars - Open House Night is coming up and is:

Thursday, August 30th
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

This is a time for you to receive school and classroom information. We will have you complete and update your child's personal information, complete field trip forms, bus badges (Grades K - Gr 2), Chromebook Information (Gr 5), Eagle Committee Information and other important items.

You will also receive your teacher name and classroom information at the Open House! This is a great time to reconnect with friends and meet new friends.

See you there!
IMMUNIZATIONS: Kindergarten students must have their immunization records updated and brought to the school by September 1st. You may fax (763.504.7709) or drop off your records at the Meadow Lake office between the hours of 8:30 am - 3:00 pm.

September 4 or 5 - Kindergarten students and their parents will be contacted to make an appointment to meet 1:1 with their classroom teacher. The teacher will use this time to get to know your child and also do some basic assessing on reading and math skills. This will be a 30 minute time slot. Therefore, students do not come to school these days other than the 30 minute time slot.

September 6 - Students with the last name between A - K will come to school. This allows the classroom teacher to work with a small group of students to prepare them for the school year.

September 7 - Students with the last name between L - Z will come to school. This allows the classroom teacher to work with a small group of students to prepare them for the school year.
