Good Morning,

It's amazing what some sunshine and warmer temperatures can do for the spirit.... it felt like a spring preview this week! Students certainly enjoyed getting back outside for recess and gym class, even if it was a bit sloppy in the melting snow. We moved physical education classes to the blacktop for the time being, as the grassy areas are quite messy.

Please remember that Monday is a school day. Previously we had off for Casimir Pulaski Day, but we're using that day as a make-up day for our snow day earlier this month. We look forward to seeing our MB Stars in class on Monday.

Meadowbrook Happenings
Marla's Lunch Returning for In-Person Students

We're happy to share that we're reinstating our partnership with Marla's Brown Bag lunch service beginning the week of April 12th. Parents will be able to order lunch for students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Ordering will be open the week prior via Marla's website. We're excited to be partnering with local restaurants as well! The menu, login information, and more details will be coming soon!
Summer School Update

District 28 is currently planning to hold a summer school program that is scheduled from June 9th through July 2nd. More details about registration will be coming in March. Check out the summer school website for additional information.
5th Grade: Math Problem-Solving Assessment 
(repeat)

As part of the comprehensive review process for sixth-grade math placement, all of our fifth-graders will participate in a math problem-solving assessment. 
 
The questions on the assessment will require students to construct answers and write about their mathematical thinking. This is different from the MAP test, which assesses math skills in a multiple-choice format. The CogAT test is different as well because it captures reasoning skills in a multiple-choice format. The problem-solving assessment will provide a snapshot of your child’s strategies and thinking. Together, the three assessments along with classroom performance will be used to determine course placement for 6th grade. 
 
Students will be given the math problem-solving assessment on March 3 during the school day. This assessment will be an hour in length, in paper-pencil format.
