April 30, 2021
Good Morning,
Fourth- and fifth-grade students worked hard this week completing the Illinois Assessment of Readiness in the areas of math and literacy. Third-grade students will complete these assessments next week. Thank you to our remote learner families for getting their children to school to complete these assessments. It was nice to see all of them in person this week!

Planning for next year is in full swing, and we will welcome our kindergarten class of 2021-22 for kindergarten screening on May 10 and 11. Students currently enrolled in the Young Explorers program at Westmoor do not need to participate, as our kindergarten teachers will be having articulation meetings with the YE teachers. Similarly, fifth-grade teachers will be participating in articulation meetings with NBJH staff next week to discuss the transition process for fifth-grade students.

The Meadowbrook PTO will be recognizing our fantastic Meadowbrook staff (teachers, assistants, custodians, health room staff...anyone that works at Meadowbrook) that has had a hand in making this challenging year a success for our students! The PTO is organizing a breakfast, lunch and daily treats during Teacher Appreciation Week, the week of May 3-7. We encourage you to reach out and let your child's teacher know that she/he is appreciated in your own way.

Have a great weekend,

Pat

District 28: First “Getting Ready Camp”

District 28 will be holding its first “Getting Ready Camp'' for students who have received additional math and/or literacy support in the classroom this year and may benefit from some additional summer support to get ready for the new school year. 2021-2022 Room Parent Volunteer

Would you like to be a room parent for the 2021-2022 school year? If so, the Meadowbrook PTO is looking for you!

Room parents are an important link between your child’s teacher, the parents of other children in the class and the PTO. The primary purpose of a room parent is to recruit other parents to assist with a variety of functions and activities.

Some of the responsibilities of a room parent include:
  • Communicate with classroom teacher and classroom parents
  • Coordinate parents to host and/or help with the classroom parties (Halloween, Holiday, and Valentine’s Day)
  • Recruit parents to chaperone field trips
  • Recruit parents to work at school events/programs such as Special Lunch, Fall Fest etc.

If you would like to volunteer your time and energy, please complete the volunteer form below and submit it by Friday, May 28th.

Please note that forms will be date stamped as they are submitted and priority will be given in the order received. Please include a second choice, if possible, since we may have multiple requests for the same classroom. Room parent assignments will be determined in August.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Erin Dineen (262) 352-3746 or at [email protected].
