(New) Garage and Bake Sale, Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, Galway UMC

The Galway UMC will hold its annual Garage and Bake Sale on 

Friday, July 19 from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, July 20 from 9 AM to 3 PM. This sale is a multi-family sale that includes clothing, furniture, sporting goods, toys tools, household items, collectibles, electronics, books, baby items and much more. The sale is held indoors come rain or shine. A bake sale will be held at the same time. The public is welcome to attend. The church is located at the corner of Rte. 147 and CR 45 in the Village of Galway.

Rummage Sale, Aug. 22-Aug. 24, Mechanicville UMC

The long-awaited return of the annual rummage sale at the Mechanicville UMC will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 (4 PM

to 8 PM), Friday, Aug. 23 (9 AM to 2 PM) and Saturday, Aug. 24 (9 AM to noon). There will be something for everyone – clothes, toys, housewares and linens, craft supplies, and artwork, just to name a few. There will also be a bake sale. For the best selection, come to our "Early Bird Special" on Thursday. For $5 admission you will have access to all our merchandise before the general public. The church is located at 7 Main St. in Mechanicville.

Craft Fair, Saturday, Sept. 14, Ames-Sprout Brook UMC

Alplaus UMC: Musician Needed

The Alplaus UMC has a job opening for a pianist. (Organ also on site, but not a requirement to be able to play.) The job involves playing for the 9 AM worship service Sunday mornings and once a month having a rehearsal with the choir. Presently, the choir only sings once a month. The time for choir rehearsal will be determined on mutual availability of the musician and choir members. Service usually involves playing 3 hymns, a doxology, prelude, postlude and sometimes choral responses. You would be responsible for choosing the prelude and postlude, the pastor chooses the hymns and the choir director chooses the choir selection. Selections by the pastor and choir director will be provided 10 days in advance so you can practice. There are a few extra services such as Christmas Eve and Good Friday. Pay is negotiable. Grace UMC, 16 Hillcrest Dr., Ravena is downsizing and have two upright pianos--a Yamaha and unmarked -- and one Hammond organ that are free to any church that can use them. You would need to pick them up. If interested, please contact our church secretary at the church number (518) 756-6688. She has office hours Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to noon but checks messages on other days.
