Dear Council Stakeholders,
We're excited to announce important updates to the Child Development Associate® (CDA) credentialing program designed to better support candidates during the assessment process and beyond. Here are the key changes taking place on or around August 1, 2025:
New Birth to Five CDA® Credential
Recognizes your ability to work with multiple age groups in center-based settings, giving you greater workplace flexibility and career mobility.
Improved Exam Sequence
Candidates will now take the CDA Exam before scheduling the verification visit, allowing for a more efficient and focused assessment process.
Streamlined Renewal Requirements
First Aid and CPR certification will no longer be required at the time of renewal. This requirement is regulated by state licensing agencies and at the child care program level.
Introducing Digital Credentials
You’ll be able to showcase your CDA achievement with a verifiable digital credential perfect for sharing on LinkedIn and other professional platforms.
We have also announced the first adjustment to the credentialing fees since 2013, which will enable us to enhance the overall CDA experience to maintain quality and service standards. We appreciate your commitment and support to the early childhood education sector.
Sincerely,
Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr.
