55th old timers night

A big thanks to all who braved the elements and joined us to celebrate the "old timers" that have given so much to our industry over the years.

We could not have done this without our sponsors, thank you for your support. Thank you to Trotter and Morton who supplied the wine with supper, IPEX Management Inc. for the Old Timers' drinks, and to BCL Sales Inc. for the boutonnieres.

Interesting fact - Baby boomers will turn 65 at a rate of 10,000 a day over the next 18 years.
Young executives

Did you know that by 2025, millennials will comprise 75 per cent of the workforce?

At MCA we are engaging both our young and senior executives to learn from each other now. The young executives in Edmonton planned a night of bowling and had 20 members come-out to meet with the senior executives to pick their brains on the industry we all care about!

A big thank you to Marking Services Canada Inc. for sponsoring this event!
Education and Training
Did you know

Did you know that 23 per cent of employees voluntarily leave their jobs due to lack of development and training? Professional development is exactly what many employees (especially millennials) crave. MCA has planned a comprehensive training and education plan to assist our member companies in retaining their employees.

Student chapters assist to further a student's professional development.

Activities of the student chapter can include lunch discussions, community volunteer projects, lectures given by guest speakers, team projects such as competitions, social functions and field trips to construction sites. Industry News
Canada Prompt Payment Act

Bill S-224 for the Canada Prompt Payment Act, has passed second reading in the senate. It is now moving to committee hearings; following these hearings, it will go to a third reading and then hopefully to the House of Commons. This is good news!

Below, you'll find hansard from last weeks' debate in which Sen. Pierrette Ringuette refers to the Ontario "Reynolds report" suggesting close alignment. The NTCCC have already addressed this and have proposed several amendments along these lines.
ACA survey

MCA members please participate in the following ACA survey to help determine the associations' direction for the next couple of years. On page two of the survey, there is a list of 17 priority objectives of which you are asked to select your top five. Promoting prompt payment in contract clauses is one of these priorities.

If promoting prompt payment in contract clauses is not good enough, please take the time to let ACA know that pursuing a legislated solution to ensure prompt payment solutions must be one of their top priority objectives.

Take the survey.
