Medicaid Check-in Campaign: Advocate to Maintain Health Coverage TODAY

Recent federal law, H.R. 1, changes Medicaid eligibility requirements and will significantly affect Maryland Medicaid members. Over the coming months, many Marylanders will need to take action to maintain their health coverage.

The Maryland Department of Health, Maryland Health Connection, HealthChoice managed care organizations, and community partners are working together to help Maryland families navigate these new changes.

To support this effort, the Maryland Department of Health launched a statewide Medicaid Check-In Campaign, including three new web pages with campaign materials and detailed information. View each specific webpage through the links below.

This coordinated outreach initiative is designed to help Medicaid participants understand upcoming program changes, know when action may be required, and access trusted information and assistance. The campaign includes a growing suite of educational and outreach resources that stakeholders can use and share within their communities, including:

  • Flyers
  • FAQs
  • Newsletters/eNewsletters
  • Pay slip inserts
  • Social media ads
  • Waiting room monitor ads

MedChi encourages physicians to continue to advocate for their practices and patients.

Response Requested: Prior Authorization Survey

MedChi has been asked to present to the Workgroup on the Rise of Adverse Decisions, which was created by legislation passed in 2025. The Workgroup is charged with making recommendations to improve State reporting on adverse decisions, including recommendations regarding:

  • Standardized definitions of medical service categories; health settings; adverse decisions; and medical necessity;
  • A standardized method for categorizing adverse decisions and prior authorization denials; and
  • A standardized process for reporting grievances or filing complaints and appealing adverse decisions.

MedChi is interested in hearing any recommendations on the above issue, especially regarding how to standardize definitions across payers. Any examples of how carriers may differ in their definitions or in the information they request is extremely helpful. CLICK HERE TO TAKE SURVEY.
