CEO's Message

In the demanding environment of practicing medicine in Maryland, our primary focus is — and should always remain — patient care. Yet, ensuring that our professional and personal insurance coverage is appropriate, competitive, and comprehensive is a critical component of responsible risk management. A proactive review of coverage can uncover gaps, outdated provisions, or missed opportunities that may otherwise go unnoticed until a claim arises.

Recently, MedChi President Dr. Eric Wargotz, shared a “Dear Colleague” letter highlighting the value of working with Unity Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of MedChi that specializes exclusively in serving physicians and healthcare professionals. Their physician-specific expertise, combined with their role as an independent agency representing multiple carriers, allows them to objectively review policies and shop the market on your behalf. As Dr. Wargotz notes, Unity’s comprehensive approach extends beyond medical professional liability coverage to include medical office insurance, general liability, employee benefits, and important personal protections such as disability and long-term care insurance.

Taking the time for a no-obligation coverage review offers peace of mind and confidence that your protection aligns with both your professional risks and personal goals. Physicians insured by Medical Mutual may also reassign Unity Insurance as their Broker with no change in coverage and at no additional cost, directly benefiting MedChi while maintaining the same coverage and carrier relationship. I encourage you to consider reaching out to Unity Insurance to explore how this service can support your practice and your future.
