Amanda Cronkhite, Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will examine institutional and business realities governing news production. Media coverage of social conflict is often colored with bias due to the institutional and business constraints the media faces. As a result, parties involved in social movements rarely receive equal coverage, and consequently, the U.S. public gets only part of the story. Life Matters: Robin Takacs

In "Life Matters," members of the Wesleyan community offer autobiographical reflections on their emotional, intellectual, and spiritual experiences. This session will feature Robin Takacs, VWC Director of Instructional Technology. If you wish, you may bring a bag lunch or purchase lunch in the dining center. The film In-Lawfully Yours (2016) is a contemporary comedy inspired by the biblical story of Ruth. Sean Gaffney, the screenwriter and a professor at Regent University, oversees the Regent's Script and Screenwriting and Scriptwriting graduate programs. He has authored 29 produced plays and four television pilots, as well as more than 70 videos, animation projects, and short films. He also served as the story administrator for Warner Bros. Following a screening of his feature film, Gaffney will share insights and lead discussion. Co-sponsored with RELST 140 Religion in American Culture.
