On Tuesday, March 29th,
Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare will welcome community partners and media to an exclusive Transitional Stability Centre (TSC) Open House. Located at 720 Ouellette Avenue, the TSC will provide day services and support for males and females 18 to 65 years of age who are experiencing acute mental health and/or substance use episodes.
The open-house provides attendees the opportunity to see the transformation of the newly renovated, functional space that aims to alleviate stress from emergency departments and city services such as EMS and Police.
"The TSC is really the ultimate example of solid partnerships and recognizing a need for new ways of addressing mental health and addictions issues in our community. We know that hospital emergency rooms are not the best or most cost-effective intervention for those individuals experiencing a non life threatening mental health or substance abuse episode. The goal is to stabilize and assist individuals so that they can ultimately function independently in our community," said Bill Marra, Vice President of External Affairs, Innovation and Philanthropy at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.
The open-house will provide the opportunity for multiple community stakeholders to highlight how the TSC will help to improve their service ability for this specialized population in our community throughout Windsor/Essex. The goal is to have the multi-sector community partnerships involved, fully integrated, less fragmented and working to ensure that client/patient barriers to service are reduced and ultimately eliminated.
When fully operational, the TSC will offer a residential program with the goal of phasing in a 25 - 50 bed program in addition to the day treatment program. The bedded service, which is in the final stages of planning, will be phased in after gauging initial community and client response and need.
