February 28: Dedication ceremony for the new Whittier Elementary School, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., 301 N. 29th St., Boise. This 2017 bond supported project provides students with a new modern state-of-the-art educational facility with larger classrooms, more technology and improved safety and security features to help students learn in a safe, secure and supportive environment.

The new 68,000 square foot, two story, Whittier Elementary School features 25 Kindergarten through 6th Grade classrooms, (2) resource classrooms, pre-school classroom, music room, library, cafeteria and gymnasium.

The building’s exterior is masonry construction with low slope membrane roofing to complement the old Whittier Elementary building, a portion of which will be retained and remodeled for a new Community Center. The new Whittier Elementary School site has been improved with separate drop-off areas, playfields, student areas and extensive landscaping has been designed to create exterior learning spaces.

Following the official ribbon cutting ceremony, tours of the new school will be provided.

News media representatives and the general public are invited to attend the dedication ceremony.
