June 3 Bands
Dustbowl Revival pushes the boundaries of what American roots music can be. Known for creating joyful, booty-shaking songs and cut-to-heart folk-rock ballads that lift up their transcendent live shows, they continue to come up with new energetic material from the place where folk music, funk and soul meet. With a big brass-and-strings band building the sets around them, their most recent release Is It You, Is It Me isn’t afraid to explore the personal and political tension that the group may have shied away from facing before.
Deviant Kin is a not-so-traditional string band, though an accordion makes it into the mix sometimes... Careening between Americana and bluegrass, and bouncing off Cajun, Latin, and Celtic adventures along the way, this group of seasoned musicians has bypassed boy band status entirely, and perform proudly as a man-band. Influenced by southern rock and Irish ballads, Appalachia and world music, you never quite know where the evening will lead.
