Aug. 18, 2025 - The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, at the Lod Cook Alumni Center on the LSU campus to discuss the growing problem of pedestrian safety in Louisiana.


Over the last 10 years, more pedestrians than passengers have been killed in motor vehicle crashes in Louisiana. Experts in law enforcement, transportation, fitness and personal safety, and motor vehicle safety will address the issue.

·      Captain Bryan Lee, Commander of Louisiana State Police Troop A

·      Durand “Rudy” Macklin, former LSU and NBA basketball player; Director of the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports

·      Jenni Peters, Business Owner, running enthusiast and safety advocate
