ATLANTA, GA, JUNE 6, 2023 - R&B Recording Artist Karyn White is honored to recognize National Black Music Month (June 2023) which pays homage and appreciation to Black Music and its historical influences in the Black community and American culture.
The NAACP Image Award Winner, 2022 Black Music Honors “Soul Music Icon” recipient, and 2-time Grammy nominated singer-songwriter has etched her mark in history through a timeless host of hits including, The Way You Love Me, Love Saw It (feat. Babyface), I’d Rather Be Alone, Can I Stay With You, Secret Rendezvous, and the smashing hit female anthem, Superwoman that made international waves, selling over a million units, being certified Gold and named the Billboard R&B Song of the Year in 1989.
White possesses one of the most memorable, distinctive voices heard in popular music, and is often referred to as the “Queen of New Jack Swing.” She continues to grace the stage around the globe performing at sold out venues, and she doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. (KWE), a dynamic multi-platform media company offering diverse and uplifting entertainment across the broad media landscapes of music, television, and film. White released her long-awaited album "Carpe Diem" on her own label and distributed it through Light Year/EMI.
Karyn White's Movie and Soundtrack, Gale & The Storm, is a story loosely based on Karyn's life and manager Jay King, legendary music producer and founder of Grammy Award winning group "Club Nouveau.” The movie's synopsis revolves around a revolutionary music producer who links up with a legendary soul singer and tries to convince her to sing again. White executive produced, co-wrote, and starred in the film. She also executive produced, co-wrote and recorded 8 songs on the movie’s soundtrack that is a compilation of brilliant fusion of cosmic funk, soul, rock, and R&B.
Karyn has also showcased her outstanding acting skills as a regular in the BET sitcom "Beauty and the Baller" created and produced by Emmy award winning writer Michael Ajakawe. Karyn also debuted in the Lionsgate feature film “American Bad Boy” starring Katt Williams.
