50+ Organizations Coming Together for First Festival of Inclusion to Kick off Spread the Word Inclusion Campaign
Free!! 10AM – 2PM at Nazareth College's Golisano Training Center–– Rochester movement one of the largest in the country!
Rochester, NY—March 1, 2020 —More than 50 area organizations will come together today at the Golisano Training Center at Nazareth College for the first-ever Festival of Inclusion . The Festival will present an inspirational day of fun and games for the whole family to promote equality, acceptance and respect for all. It is free and open to the public, and is hosted by the Golisano Foundation , Special Olympics New York , and Best Buddies New York . T he event will officially kick off this year's annual Spread the Word Inclusion campaign, now in its 10th year locally.

WHO & WHAT
  • Sports activities including Unified Sports Experience, bocce, pickleball, cheerleading, and tennis
  • Music & dance fun with dance troops, singing groups, DJ & dance party
  • Photo booth
  • 50+ community organizations (see list below)
  • Food trucks (Chef's Catering and Roc City Sammich) located outside the Golisano Training Center entrance
  • Tours of local department fire trucks, police cruisers, and other emergency vehicles
  • A pep rally starting at 11 a.m. with guest speakers: Best Buddies Inclusive Cheer (Spencerport and Penfield Cheerleaders) to perform and get the crowd ready; Master of Ceremonies David Quilleon, Best Buddies Senior VP, Global Mission, State Development & Operations; Ann Costello, Golisano Foundation Director; Stacey Hengsterman, Special Olympics NY President & CEO; Daan Braveman, Nazareth College President; Community members speak on how they will be more inclusive; Nazareth College’s Inclusive Choir performs

Spread the Word Inclusion Day is Wednesday, March 4
The campaign was created and reimagined by youth, and is intended to engage schools, organizations and communities to rally and pledge their support of inclusion and to promote respect and acceptance of people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Rochester movement has become one of the largest in the country.
