The Town is pleased to announce that a substantial portion of the Bay Street Stabilization Project has been completed. This project is a priority initiative aimed at stabilizing the road, protecting surrounding properties, and protecting the sanitary sewer line that serves over 300 homes.

To date, the project team has completed all major works on the hill including a new storm system, road base reconstruction and stabilization, paving, barrier and shoulder work.  As a result, Bay Street has reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, just in time for winter.

Due to the seasonal closure of paving plants and limited weather conditions, the remaining reconstruction of Bay Street between Elm Avenue and Crescent Road East will resume in the spring when conditions permit. At that time, the slope will also be reseeded to further stabilize the area.

Since late July, Bay Street has been closed to facilitate stabilization efforts and ensure public safety. This project has been a major focus for Council, recognizing its critical importance in protecting infrastructure and the homes of local residents.

This phase of the project was completed on time, and within budget, by David Stalker Excavating, who was awarded the contract with a bid price of $600,000.
