The Town is seeking a qualified proponent to purchase and develop approximately 2.5 hectares (6.1 acres) of pre-zoned development land in the Eaglecrest neighbourhood through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
The lands are part of the former Eaglecrest Golf Course, offering a unique greenfield redevelopment opportunity within an established residential area. The Town is inviting proposals to purchase and develop all or part of the lands, to not only provide an economic return but to also provide high-quality housing, with the option of including a seniors’ care facility.
The RFP sets out parameters that were developed through the Eaglecrest Neighbourhood Planning project and associated community engagement, which identified priorities such as maintaining neighbourhood character, enhancing access to parks and greenspace, and addressing transportation issues. The RFP translates the Draft Preliminary Eaglecrest Neighbourhood Plan’s vision, priorities and actions into site-specific development parameters. This approach ensures that proposals are aligned with Town policy and community input, while allowing flexibility through a competitive proposal process.
Other key Town-owned parcels in Eaglecrest will be considered for development in future years, including the decommissioned fairway on Highway 19A and land located at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Eaglecrest Drive. Proceeds from these land sales will be used to offset the cost of purchasing and restoring the Eaglecrest Golf Course, and fund other neighbourhood improvements, such as a traffic solution at Highway 19A, parkland improvements and pedestrian enhancements.
